This trekking program to Langtang and Gosainkunda takes you through a dense forest of bamboo, oak, rhododendron, and beautiful villages. These villages belong mostly to the Tamang and Sherpa communities, who practice their own unique culture and tradition. On this program from Mountain Scenery Treks,you will trek to the divine Gosaikunda Lake and other lakes; and visit a number of geographical locations such as meadows, pastures, hills, forests, and rivers.
A highlight of this trek is the chance to see magnificent close-up views of the mountains. An added bonus is that you will have one of the most immersive treks in Nepal. Lying north of Kathmandu, this is a moderate trek along Bhote-Koshi at first – taking you deep into Langtang Valley to places such as Hyolmo and Gosainkunda. The lush forests will soothe your senses and inspire you in this wonderful Himalayan journey to a high-altitude lake.
Starting from Kathmandu, you will go through Syabrubesi and Dhunche in Rasuwa district of Nepal. Most of the trekking route in this program lies inside Langtang National Park. The route is densely forested with oak, with plenty of chances of seeing wildlife species native to this region. You will visit and stay at Kyanjin Gompa where you can tour a little yak cheese factory, and also take part in the prayer sessions of the monastery. Along the route we will visit the holy Lake Gosainkunda where pilgrims frequent in huge numbers in July-August during the festival of Janai-Purnima. Later you will return through beautiful route to Dhunche, the end point of the trek.
Pristine environment and breathtaking sceneries will leave you inspired for years ahead. This is not a strenuous or challenging trek, but you do need a regular habit of walking and also some stamina. Day 01 - Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu
After your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, we will pick you up and transfer you to the hotel. You can spend the evening around Thamel
Day 02 - Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (1,462m/4,795ft) Duration: 7 hours
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi which takes about seven by bus. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trisuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land
Day 03 - Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2,500m/8,200ft) Duration: 5 hour
Today, the first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail is gradually climbs to Bamboo passing through the Landslide area. Afterwards, your trek ascends gently to Ramche (2400meters) through Bamboo (1960meters) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place if you like. And at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route you could see red pandas, monkeys and bears if you’re lucky. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 04 - Lama Hotel to Mundu (3,550m/11,645ft) Duration: 5-6 hours
The trek route follows Gumanechok, Ghoda Tabela literally it means the Horse Stable. After this, our trail is slightly gradual to Mundu further Langtang. Mundu is small settlement that’s about 30 minutes from village of Langtang. Overnight stay at basis teahouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 05 - Mundu to Kyanjing RI (4,773m/15,655ft) and back to Kyanjing Gompa
Crossing the Laja Khola then climbs a moraine to a viewpoint where you can see Kyanjing Gompa and the dramatic icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung. After Kyanjing Gompa, hiking to Kyankin RI (4773m) and trek back to Kyanjing Gompa. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 06 - Kyangjuma Gompa Exploration and climb Chorkari RI
Today is a day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and ascend at Chorkari RI (5050 meters) which is highest point of this trek, directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peak. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 07 - Kyanjin Gompa- Lama Hotel (2,500m/8,200ft) Duration: 5-6 hours
Today we come back all the way downhill to Lama Hotel. We will see fantastic views of towering mountain what you have missed on the way up. Take more time and you are suggested to walk very slowly. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 08 - Lama Hotel - Thulo Syabru (2,235m/ 7,330ft) Duration: 5-6 hours
First trail decent to river, cross the river and ascend to Thulo Syabru. You will see the fascinating view of Langtang Himal and more. On the way of your trek you will pass through pine and Junipers forests.
Day 09 - Thulo Syabru- Shin Gompa (3,330m/10,925ft) Duration: 3-5 hours
You take the broad trail climbing up to Dimsa village and the trial continues less steeply, through rhododendron, hemlock and Oak forests to Shin Gumba. On the way of your trek you will see fantastic views of Langtang Himal and Langtang valley. Shin Gompa is another popular place for Cheese
Day 10 - Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda (4,300m/14,104ft) Duration: 5-6 hours
The first part of the trail emerges and we steadily climb up to Laurebinayak and the top of Laurebinayak gives you an exotic feeling. With a steep ascent all the way to Gosaikunda. You follow a rugged trail with dramatic views to the Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, Tibetan peaks and Langtang Lirung. On a clear day, even the Annapurna range can be seen rising up behind and to the north also across the valley is Langtang Lirung. You pass a few huts in the high pasture of Laurebinayak, cross a small ridge and have your first views of the holy lake of Gosaikunda.
Day 11 - Gosaikunda to Ghopte (3,430m/11,250ft) via Laurebinayak Yak pass
The trail leaves Gosaikunda and climbs through rugged country, past four small lakes to the Laurebinayak La (4610meters), the highest point of this trek. Keep looking back at the spectacular views of Manaslu and the mountains of the Ganesh Himal, as well as the now familiar Langtang Lirung.
Day 12 - Ghopte to Malemchigaon (2,560m/8,399ft) Duration: 6-7 hours
You slide down through a forested area and climb through a dry river-bed to arrive at a Kharka that is surrounded by rhododendron forest. You climb through the forest to arrive at the village of Tharepati. Climbing the ridge directly above the village gives you a marvelous view of the Jugal area.
Day 13 - Malemchigaon to Tarkeghyang (2,590m/8,495ft) Duration: 5-7 hours
The day you enter a cultural destination it call Helambu Region, walk up to Tarkeghyang where you can enjoy with Sherpa culture with traditional village and monasteries. The stone houses are close together with narrow alleyways separating them. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 14 - Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2,610m/8,560ft) Duration: 3-4 hours
You will cross small forest with the view of beautiful village of Helambu region. The trail makes a sweep around the wide valley end between Parachin and the pretty Sharpa village of Gangyul. The people of this village practice Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism, the same as the national religion of Bhutan. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 15 - Shermathang- Melamchi - Pul Bazaar –Kathmandu:
Short walk down to Melamchi Pul Bazaar with many Sherpa village and catch transport to Katmandu. Congratulations on the completion of your trek. Overnight at hotel, breakfast and lunch included.
Day 16 - Farewell
Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight, a representative from the Mountain Scenery Treks Team will take you to the airport.
